Senior Planner / Strategist
Overview
The Senior Planner/Strategist plays a key role in advancing Sentara’s strategic goals through data-driven planning, analysis, and execution of enterprise-level strategic and business initiatives. This role partners closely with leaders across the organization to support strategic planning, market analysis, and business development efforts that improve organizational performance and long-term sustainability.
The Senior Planner/Strategist leads and supports complex strategic and business planning projects, facilitates cross-functional collaboration, and translates data and insights into clear recommendations for executive leadership. This role requires strong analytical skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and the ability to manage multiple initiatives while developing structured work plans, timelines, and reporting to ensure successful outcomes.
Education
Master’s Level Degree (Preferred) in one of the following fields:
Business Administration / Management
Health Administration
Public Health
Marketing
or
Bachelor’s Degree with 10 years of relevant strategic planning experience may be accepted in lieu of a Master’s degree.
Certification / Licensure
No specific certification or licensure requirements.
Experience
5+ years of experience in strategic planning, supporting enterprise or organizational strategy initiatives.
5+ years of experience in financial analysis, including advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, data analysis, and reporting).
5+ years of experience in healthcare, with an understanding of healthcare operations, markets, and financial drivers.
5+ years of experience in market analysis, business development, or product development, including evaluating opportunities and supporting strategic decision-making.
5+ years of experience applying statistical and analytical methods to support leadership decisions, budgeting, forecasting, and performance measurement.
Demonstrated experience leading or facilitating cross-functional teams, managing work plans, timelines, and executive-level reporting.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay rate for Full Time employment is: $79,497.60-$132,496.00. Additional compensation may be available for this role such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
