Compensation / Benefits

• $14.29-$23.34/hr. depending on previous work experience
• Evening differential $1.50/hr
• Night differential $1.75/hr
• Weekend differential $1.75/hr

Our Medical Surgical Observation Unit is a fast paced 24 bed telemetry/medical-surgical unit.  Common problems seen in our unit include chest pain, syncope, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, and diabetes.  Our nurse to patient ratio ranges from 4-6 patients depending on acuity. Our patient care tech ratio can range from 8-16 patients.  Our care team includes a Charge Nurse, staff nurses and patient care techs with support from respiratory, lab, and case management departments.  We orient new patient care techs with a 4-6 week orientation program with a dedicated preceptor team.  Take the next step of your Nursing journey and join our amazing Medical Surgical Observation Unit, where our Nurses and patient care techs always deliver professional and compassionate care.

Job Summary

• Provides basic patient care
• Assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment
• Takes and records vital sign (VS) data and relays to patient's nurse
• Provides general nursing care and routine treatment /procedures
• Facilitates processing of patients
• Provides clerical receptionist support
• Provides Coordinating Support
• Performs additional duties related to the specific needs of the department

Education

• High School diploma or equivalent GED  
• Certification as a nursing assistant or 6 months of recent experience as a nursing assistant

Experience

• Six (6) months of recent experience as a nursing assistant
• Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant or one clinical semester of nursing school or successful completion of an acute care nurse aide course; or six (6) months previous experience in a healthcare position can be substituted for the experience

(Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience).

Licensure/Certification

• Basic Life Support *(BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained through re-training for duration of employment
• Certified Nursing Assistant preferred
