The Department of Facilities Management is responsible for meeting the University's ever-changing needs. Located within Facilities Management, Utility Services is responsible for the maintenance, repairs, and upkeep associated with the storm sewer water collection system on the Norman Campus.

Essential Duties:

  • Assists with repairs, installs, troubleshooting of the water, sewer, and natural gas distribution and collection systems.
  • Uses vac-truck and hand tools to clean and repair water collection systems
  • Identifies and documents the location of water collection systems and areas of repair.
  • Ensures all operations and equipment are in good, safe working order by performing regular inspections, maintenance, and repair-related equipment and systems.
  • Performs assembly and modification under the direction of Utility Services using hand and power tools.
  • Assists with troubleshooting and making repairs to mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoots simplified electrical panels, pumps, valves, and piping systems.
  • Reads gas, electric, and water meters as needed.
  • Assists with ordering supplies and machine parts as needed.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position


Education Required: High School Diploma or GED

Skills:

  • Ability to read schematic diagrams and locate equipment by referring to the schematic
  • Ability to read, write, and follow and complete written instructions
  • Ability to use hand and power tools, control panels, and switches

Certifications: Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License

Working Conditions:

  • Physical: Requires standing and walking for extended periods. Must be able to grasp, reach, twist, bend, and kneel. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Environmental: Work in power plant environment with large machinery. Exposure to steam, electricity (to include high voltage), hazardous chemicals, extreme cold and heat, noise. Work may involve night, weekend, shift or overtime work. May be designated as an essential position during emergency closures. May be required to remain on campus overnight during weather or other emergencies.
