This position will work on-site at our University of Missouri-St. Louis location. Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Coordinator, Recreation Sports is responsible for the administration of the intramural sport and youth camp program. The coordinator will collaborate with campus partners and department teammates to plan, schedule, and administer these programs. With support from direct reports, the coordinator will provide excellent customer service to program participants, manage program delivery and enforce sport rules, program and university policies.

 

Essential Functions

  • Develop, schedule, and register participants for intramural and camp programs
  • Train officiating mechanics and game, conflict & risk management skills
  • Develop and communicate intramural sport rules and program participation policies & procedures; Develop and communicate camp policies & procedures
  • Supervise competitive sport contests and provide staff with on-site evaluations
  • Manage the Summer Camp program to include summer camps and day camps
  • Manage climbing wall operations
  • Communicate with campers parent/guardians
  • Manage and inventory of all camp and intramural sport equipment and supplies
  • Evaluate performance and program effectiveness; Ensure programs stay in line with all the current trends and rules
  • Responsible for the operating, preparation, forecasting and monitoring of income and expense budgets as it relates to program area
  • Prepare regular written communication such as monthly and annual reports, financial and participation reports and equipment inventory reports

Staff Supervision

  • Hire, manage, train and supervise intramural officials, supervisors, climbing wall attendants and camp staff
  • Responsible for approving timecards and preparing necessary documents/reports in preparation for payroll

Site-Specific Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with the Department of Athletics to secure outdoor facility space and internal facility operations for indoor space

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 or more years of work experience required
  • Experience working in higher education, recreation, or sports
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and organizing intramurals
  • Officiating experience preferred
  • Climbing wall management experience preferred

  • Sitting at desk or table for at least 60% of the work day
  • Must be able to traverse throughout buildings, sports fields, and campus. Regularly ascending/descending building levels and occasionally ladders or stools.
  • Must be able to lift, move and set up items weighing as much as 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to discuss, converse with, and exchange accurate information with patrons, staff, stakeholders, etc.
