Aiken Regional Medical Centers, located in Aiken, South Carolina, is a 273-bed acute care facility providing top quality and safe healthcare to the residents of Aiken and surrounding communities since 1917. Position Description:

 

This associate assumes technical responsibility for a clinical section of the laboratory.  They are responsible for ensuring that all people working in the department are properly trained and competent.  They also ensure that the department meets all regulatory requirements.  They work in close contact with the Clinical Lab Manager in the day-to-day operations.

 

Duties:

  • Acts as a resource and provides technical advice to physician, nursing and laboratory associates in clinical laboratory procedures.
  • Actively participates and maintains always survey readiness.
  • Troubleshoots and displays leadership role in the absence of the POC, manager and director.
  • Effectively performs, documents and reviews QA activities following SOP.
  • Communicates with lab leadership on concerns affecting lab operations, quality and errors.
  • Monitor performance of PT surveys in the department section and provide corrective action appropriately and education when needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:          

  • Bachelor's degree in Lab Science required.
  • 2 years of experience in the department for which they will be responsible. Must be able to demonstrate competency in the area.
  • Registered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology or an equivalent registry preferred. Advanced CPI for FED staff only is required or obtained within 90 days of hire.
