I. MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

 

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Marketing & Communication Coordinator (MCC) is responsible for developing and executing specific communication plans for NASW New Jersey (NASW-NJ) programs and services. Writes, reviews, and edits informational and promotional content for the chapter. Coordinates email marketing, social media, and other customer engagement efforts. Uses content management tools and resources. Produces collateral materials, including but not limited to newsletters, brochures, web pages, advertisements, and multimedia presentations. Serves as the communications point person for the chapter. Coordinates event exhibits when needed and manages business relationships with third party vendors. Provides operational and logistical support for NASW-NJ educational events. The MCC will be the direct report to Executive Director.

 

II. BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Serve as the first point of contact for members, partners, sponsors, etc. regarding marketing and communication related needs and provides support and resources as applicable.
  • Creates and implements plans to promote programs through all appropriate channels (website, e-newsletters, member magazine, email, social media, et al)
  • Creates and disseminates educational, program, advocacy and other related content in various media formats. Reviews, writes, and edits content. Works with subject matter experts. Prepares talking points for Executive Director as needed.
  • Creates collateral materials such as: presentations, announcements, graphics, videos, social media posts, and testimonials, ensuring appropriate grammar and brand style.
  • Responsible for developing and updating content on NASW-NJ’s website, social media channels, events app, and other channels.
  • Prepares promotional content for inclusion in several NASW-NJ e-publications. 
  • Develops a marketing and communication plan. Provides communication analysis and reporting. Identifies and collects relevant data to evaluate results of communication initiatives.
  • Responsible for maintaining the communication activities/email calendar and mailbox. Coordinates email marketing for products, programs, and services
  • Implements communication plans, sets deadlines, and ensure timely execution of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Assists the NASW-NJ in developing revenue generating programs and resources.
  • Responsible for extensive coordination with chapter staff to design, produce, and execute communication plans.
  • Works with a range of colleagues to obtain information to coordinate and present promotional campaigns.
  • Interacts with National and Chapter staff to complete work assignments
  • As needed, completes specific event support tasks (In-Person, Hybrid, and Virtual).
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned and participates in special projects as needed.

Additional responsibilities

 

  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Director and Operations Manager.
  • Attends chapter events, such as annual conferences, Fall events, and support for workshops as needed.
  • Manages the internal communication mailbox and responds accordingly.
  • This position qualifies for telework arrangement, as outlined in the chapter policy, but is required to work in-person at least two days per week (Princeton, NJ) and may require travel throughout NJ.
  • This position may require some evening and weekend availability.
  • This position will need to have access to reliable transportation and be available to be in the field.

 

 

III. MINIMUM WORK REQUIREMENTS:

 

Skills:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Creativity, storytelling, and diverse delivery of content via social and digital media.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to build trust and collaborate across sectors and with diverse stakeholders.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work productively on cross-functional teams.

 

Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Business, etc. BSW/MSW welcomed.
  • Experience in areas of social work, nonprofit, association, or professional membership organization leadership.
  • Must have experience developing communication strategies, communication techniques, and content development.
  • Knowledge of basic communication/market research is required.
  • Prior experience working with various social media platforms and email marketing tools strongly required.
  • Demonstrated operational and program management experience.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.

 

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in marketing and communication, or a related field.
  • Significant experience with social, digital, and SEO/SEM campaigns and tools.
  • Superior computer skills, including communication/marketing technology applications.
  • Experience running paid social media and digital campaigns is a plus.
  • Experience planning events, workshops, or trainings a plus.
