Job DetailsJob Location: Main Campus-Fully Onsite - North Canton, OH 44720Position Type: Staff (Full-Time)This is a fully on-campus role, where we do our work in community with colleagues, students, and campus partners Main Campus - Fully onsite Position Summary  The Maintenance Technician/Carpenter will perform routine maintenance relative to carpentry and construction of building interiors, furniture, and fittings to maintain buildings and common areas in the best possible condition. Implement repairs and revisions along with other trades to buildings and assets maintained at the University. Reports to Maintenance Supervisor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Perform preventative and condition-based maintenance to support repairs and maintenance on buildings, fixtures and equipment across campus. Manage and inventory parts, tools and equipment for repairs associated with carpentry in all buildings.  Assist other Maintenance Technicians in basic level skills (assembly, HVAC filter changes, light bulb replacement etc.) Reading (e.g., technical manuals), writing, (e.g., work logs), and accurately follow oral, written, and graphic instructions.  Support lock and key installation and minor repairs across campus. Diagnosing problems and determining appropriate action  Perform emergency repairs Occasional snow removal (shovel during the week – plow snow on weekends) Ability to work overtime as needed or required Ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures and regulations Other duties as assigned or required This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) of this position. Must also possess the following: Education:  High school diploma or equivalent GED. Work Experience:  One to two years proven experience in commercial or residential carpentry and maintenance of facilities and equipment.   Skills and abilities: Experience and working knowledge using carpenter trade tools, material and equipment.  Ability to comprehend schematic diagrams, blueprints, sketches, building plans and other specifications Maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable status for operating University-owned vehicles on the road.  Maintenance and comprehensive vehicle repair experience preferred Maintenance and repair skills with plumbing, HVAC, various equipment repair to assist other Maintenance Technicians Working knowledge of testing and repairing tools and equipment used in the maintenance industry. Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students, staff and faculty.  Positive attitude a must. Familiarity with basic computer programs Excellent time management, problem solving, communication and customer service skills Great attention detail and ability to be proactive Must be comfortable in a team environment or on their own Physical Demands and Work Environment  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
