Boeing Commercial Airplanes Materials & Processes (BCA M&P) is seeking an Associate Composites Engineer (Level 2) to join our787 Wing & Empennage Engineering Support Team in North Charleston, South Carolina.

As an M&P engineer, you will assist with defining engineering requirements to develop, select, or recommend parts, materials, processes, manufacturing technologies, machinery, tools, and automation systems used in product design and manufacturing in accordance with contractual and regulatory obligations.

Additionally, you will qualify new materials, parts and processes to meet requirements and help manage test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements. You will conduct routine analysis to characterize performance or determine reasons for failure of tools, materials, parts or processes to drive subsequent corrective or preventative actions. M&P engineers are responsible for using project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements while incorporating environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support and assist with engineering design review

  • Support material and part qualification internal to Boeing and at suppliers

  • Provide engineering support to the production system

  • Possess and encourage others to have a mindset of Safety and First Pass Quality

  • Influence others to exhibit Boeing Values and Behaviors

This position may require up to 20 - 25% travel, domestically or internationally.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry

  • 2+ years of experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing environment

  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications

  • Experience working with composites and/or composite manufacturing

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in a materials and processes engineering environment

  • Experience with aerospace composites technology

  • Experience with composite part and/or material qualification

  • Experience with large scale composite manufacturing processes

  • Experience working with suppliers associated with an engineering production system

  • Problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
