Job DetailsJob Location: Charleston - North Charleston, SC 29405Summary The Manager of Family Support Services oversees and conducts services relating to our family support and authorization process of the deceaseds organ and tissue donation. This position is responsible for managing the Family Support Counselors (FSC). Essential Duties & Responsibilities Creates precise goals and objectives for the Family Support programs strategic plan, while adhering to AOPO standards, UNOS policies, and CMS guidelines, ensuring these goals and objectives are met and documented. Ensures accurate case reviews are documented, presented by the Family Support Counselor, and available for review for each donor. Tracks and trends case reviews for barriers to consented organ and tissue donors and identifies reasons consent was not obtained for process improvement. Ensures all required paper and electronic documentation is complete, timely, and accurate for FSCs donor records, activities, and policies and procedures. Maintains effective preceptor and training program in compliance with training policies. Reviews and revises FSC procedures and initiates any new procedures affecting the FSCs, ensuring all FSCs have been trained and understand all procedures before performing a task. Assesses the FSCs ability to evaluate the potential for organ and tissue donation, by working through both hospital and family barriers to facilitate the authorization process. Schedules the FSCs for call, Hospital Development assistance, and other duties. Conducts performance reviews and updates job descriptions as required. Works with the Manager of Staff Development and Director of Hospital Development (interdepartmentally)to provide continuing education, as required by AOPO, CMS, and UNOS and maintains up-to-date credentialing for FSCs. Works collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team members to implement new research procedures, in order to maximize consented organ and tissue donors. Holds regular office work hours Monday through Friday, except when travel and donor related activities necessitate flexibility. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications BS degree; Three (3) years of experience in counseling; Three (3) years of experience as an FSC in an OPO; One (1) year of experience in management; RN license preferred; or, An equivalent combination of education and experience.
