Description

 The Project Technician’s core responsibilities are to maintain quality standards and ensure technical improvement. Maintaining quality standards involves identifying problems with work quality, holding the team accountable to address those problems, and implementing prevention measures to keep those same problems from arising again. Ensuring technical improvement is done by overseeing team training pertaining to active work portfolios and introducing processes to drive overall technical performance. These primary goals are dependent upon the Project Technician’s ability to be proactive about involvement on projects and be intentional about how they are investing in the team. This position is critical to the overall success of the project team and to be successful in this role one must be obsessive about the organization’s vision. 


Maintain quality standards through proactive project planning, intentional closeout initiatives, and consistent project follow-ups. Organize personal schedule and coordinate labor support for position objectives. 


  • Be involved on the front end of projects to understand existing system applications, technical control integrations, and equipment components.
  • Ensure and support proper practices for technical installation on projects. This includes specialty DX system applications as well as chillers and hydronic system applications. 
  • Complete startup paperwork and warranty registration documentation on all equipment startups. 
  •  Oversee quality control and best practices on job sites. Organize reporting documents and submit quality concerns and issues to management. 
  • Schedule return visits for systems checks after project completion and catch warranty concerns ahead of customers. 
  •  Handle and complete all warranty items for construction projects. Investigate service calls and secure parts/materials to make necessary repairs. File all warranty repairs in project documentation. 
Be actively involved in project execution and help oversee and run projects when needed.
  • Set daily goals for the team with the superintendent and outline clear expectations for individual teammates. Direct any significant disciplinary concerns to the project superintendent.
  •  Assume primary responsibilities for customer communications and updates onsite. Ensure that management is updated with customer feedback that is received. 
  •  Work on the tools to complete the job and support the team onsite.

  •  Leadership Responsibility - This position is a leadership role and is responsible for ensuring proper technical practices in all aspects of work.
  •  Work Environment - This job operates on-site in the field for projects as well as in the office for work review and paperwork/communications. 
  • Physical Demands - The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 
  •  Position Type/Expected Hours of Work - This is a full-time position and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
  •  Travel - Travel is primarily locally during the business day, although some out of the area travel and overnight may be expected.

Requirements

  

Qualifications for Project Technician:

  1. Six or more years of combined practical and academic experience in the full range of HVAC sub-fields. 
  2. Technical competencies with all aspects of HVAC equipment and installation.
  3. OSHA 10 safety certification.
  4. EPA refrigeration certification.
  5. Good oral and written communication skills.
  6. Strong leadership skills to motivate team and close out projects.
  7. Have a valid driver’s license.
  8. Working knowledge of HVAC Construction industry.
  9. Manufacturer certifications on DX and water source equipment 

Work Authorization/Security Clearance 

Ability to be insurable by Carolina Chillers, LLC’s insurance carrier.

Ability to pass a drug test and a background screening.
