Description
Banks Construction is seeking an experienced, hands-on recruiting and retention specialist to attract, hire, onboard, and help retain the people who drive our business. This role manages full-cycle recruiting for field, skilled-trade, operational, professional, and support positions while working with operations and HR to improve the new-hire experience, identify turnover trends, and strengthen employee retention.
Requirements
- Manage full-cycle recruiting, including sourcing, screening, interviews, offers, pre-employment coordination, onboarding, and handoff to the business.
- Partner with operations leaders and HR to forecast staffing needs, support upcoming projects, and prioritize critical hires.
- Build talent pipelines for high-demand and hard-to-fill roles through job boards, referrals, direct outreach, trade schools, community partners, social media, and field recruiting.
- Conduct structured interviews and provide candidates with a clear, responsive experience and realistic expectations about the role, schedule, work environment, and safety culture.
- Coordinate 30-, 90-, and 365-day new-hire check-ins and work with leaders to address concerns before they lead to turnover.
- Support stay interviews, exit feedback, and other employee listening efforts to understand why employees stay or leave.
- Analyze retention and turnover trends by role, recruiting source, and workforce group; translate findings into practical recommendations.
- Help develop and carry out retention initiatives, including onboarding improvements, feedback loops, and targeted action plans for high-turnover roles.
- Maintain accurate ATS and HRIS records and improve recruiting workflows, reporting, and responsible use of technology and AI tools.
- Represent Banks Construction at recruiting events and strengthen our employment brand in the construction and skilled-labor market.
Qualifications
- Three to five years of high-volume, full-cycle recruiting or talent acquisition experience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting new-hire retention, employee engagement, workforce stability, or turnover-reduction efforts.
- Experience recruiting in construction, heavy civil/highway, skilled trades, industrial, manufacturing, transportation, or a similar workforce environment is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of applicant tracking and HR information systems, recruiting reports, and hiring data.
- Ability to analyze hiring and retention trends and turn findings into clear recommendations and follow-up actions.
- Strong interviewing, communication, relationship-building, organization, and follow-through skills.
- Comfort working with field and operational teams and adapting your schedule for early-morning needs, recruiting events, or field visits.
- Commitment to our core values: Safety, Integrity, Team, and Excellence.
