Do you have an interest in being part of a company that provides vital parts to the US Navy? What we do at PRL Industries, Inc. is only done by a handful of companies within the United States. We are starting an Engineering program for fall, spring and summer opportunities. Please note, this is an on-site opportunity and all Interns must be US Citizens.

The details:

Job Summary: 

Assist in the development and implementation of clear, complete and accurate working plans and detail drawings from rough or detailed sketches or notes for engineering or manufacturing purposes, according to specified dimensions using computer and specially designed software. 

Job Qualifications: 

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of freshman and sophomore years in a higher education institution. 

Skills:  

  • Basic understanding of engineering theory and design criteria.
  • Basic understanding of applied math and physics.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Basic knowledge of computer-aided drafting (CAD) software. 
  • Continuously improve safety.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:  

 

  • Perform engineering change processes as necessary to support existing products. 
  • Assist in documenting progress of manufacturing projects (both internal and customer related) and report at meetings regularly.
  • Work with engineering and manufacturing teams throughout the plant to improve overall process effectiveness.
  • Create procedures and work instructions as part of new product development.
  • Test prototypes and standard products and write reports to document the results. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned 

Physical and Mental Efforts:

 General: Position requires periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer; see objects closely; and hear normal sounds with some background noises.  Position requires ability to concentrate with some interruption and attend to tasks for 45 to 60 minutes at a time.  

Environmental and Working Conditions: 

Industrial shop setting.  Dust, dirt, metal debris from manufacturing will be encountered.  Moderate levels of noise will be encountered.
