About the Role:
The Lumber Handler plays a critical role in the efficient operation of lumber yards, warehouses, and distribution centers by managing the receipt, storage, and shipment of lumber products. This position ensures that all lumber materials are handled safely and organized systematically to facilitate smooth workflow and timely delivery to customers or production lines. The Lumber Handler is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, inspecting lumber for quality and damage, and coordinating with team members to optimize space and resources. This role requires physical stamina and attention to detail to prevent material loss and ensure compliance with safety standards. Minimum Qualifications:
- Physical ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Basic math skills for inventory counting and measurement verification.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
Responsibilities:
- Unload, sort, and stack lumber products according to size, type, and quality specifications.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing lumber for defects, damage, or inconsistencies and report findings to supervisors.
- Maintain accurate inventory records by documenting lumber quantities and locations using manual or computerized systems.
- Ensure the work area is clean, organized, and compliant with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to coordinate daily tasks and meet operational goals.
