Description

Summary Description:

The Maintenance Technician Level 2 is responsible for performing intermediate maintenance and repair tasks on machinery and equipment in the aluminum sand foundry. This role involves diagnosing complex issues, executing preventive maintenance, and ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently and safely to minimize downtime and support production goals.


Schedule: 

Monday -Friday with occasional weekend and overtime. 

Essential Functions:

  • Perform intermediate maintenance on foundry machinery and equipment, including advanced cleaning, lubrication, adjustments, and part replacements.
  • Diagnose and repair more complex mechanical issues on a variety of equipment such as sand mixers, conveyors, and molding machines.
  • Assist in the installation, dismantling, and relocation of machinery as needed, ensuring proper setup and operation.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to identify potential issues and ensure equipment longevity.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including parts used, time spent, and repairs performed.
  • Adhere to and enforce all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance team members, production staff, and supervisors to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly to minimize production downtime.
  • Mentor and guide Level 1 Mechanics, providing training and support as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing training programs to further develop maintenance skills and knowledge.
  • Follow all safety regulations and company policies regarding safety
  • Perform all other job-related tasks as assigned


Requirements

Skills or Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of maintenance procedures. 
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or foundry environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, diagrams, and blueprints. 
  • Advanced knowledge of hand and power tools used in maintenance tasks. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new maintenance techniques and technologies.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that may include lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
  • Must have two (2) years of tech training (or equivalent experience) and at least one (1) year of related mechanical experience in hydraulics, electronics repair, and related mechanical applications.

Other Position Demands or Requirements:

Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, layout plans and machine instructions. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions with accuracy.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Exposed to heat, dust, fumes, and noise of foundry floor. 
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime, as required.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, lift and move up to 50 lbs. without assistance. 
  • Must wear protective safety equipment including respirators, SCBAs, gloves and other protective clothing. 
  • Has exposure to chemicals. 
  • Must be able to climb up on ladders, equipment, and roofs as necessary. 
  • Occasionally exposed to extreme temperatures.
