Why Join Seegrid?

Seegrid is the leading provider of Physical AI for material handling.  Our solution includes autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), fleet management software, actionable analytics, and best-in-class services and support.  Our technology is proven.  Our AMRs have safely driven millions of autonomous miles in real-world production facilities.  We are seeking energetic, bright, and friendly people to help achieve our vision:  to fortify global supply chains and create profitable economies with safe, seamless, and smart mobile robotics solutions.

About the Role:

To ensure that customers receive high quality, safe and standards-compliant Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR), Seegrid is seeking a Quality Engineering (QE), who will participate in the hardware design and modification of new vehicles, existing vehicles, accessories, and support software.  The QE must be able to assess the impact of various design decisions/changes affecting vehicle performance, safety, and reliability during system design, component selection, and manufacturing process development (control/capability), using mathematical, statistical analysis, and industry standards.  Critical field information must be gathered and analyzed for improvement opportunities and avoidance of performance degradation (or product failure) to optimize customer satisfaction and return on investment.

This position requires residence with 40 miles of our Pittsburgh headquarters facility for onsite presence.  Occasional travel to a supplier facility or end customer location will be required on as needed basis.  Therefore, the position requires a valid real ID/passport as a job requirement.  The role also requires use of PPE (shoes, glasses) and occasionally lifting electronic equipment weighing up to 25 pounds and to a height of 3-5 feet for installation, maintenance, and inspection.  The QE can expect frequent exposure to sustained noise (vehicle warning signals) and flashing lights.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Determine incoming inspections, testing, and screening methods required for quality assurance and control systems.  This includes components, sub-assemblies, chassis, purchased materials, and outsourced assemblies
  • Develop and propose quality control methods, procedures, test fixtures, and evaluating product limitations
  • Lead and/or assist in Design Validation of new product, or new feature introductions
  • Provide Quality Metrics Reports and related data analysis for cross-functional teams
  • Provide Engineering support for Quality Control (QC) technical staff regarding reliability screening, process improvements, and finished goods inspection/testing
  • Initiate and drive problem solving/8D activities internally or at customers sites in response to performance degradation or product field failure
  • Assist Engineering/Manufacturing/Supply Chain/Service to resolve quality problems that might be unique to customer applications
  • Coordinate with supplier management/Supplier QE to ensure selection of components and product application from reliability perspective
  • Provide and participates in process improvement and nonconformance reduction programs
  • Conduct regular quality reviews with stakeholders in support of improved product reliability
  • Occasional overnight travel to supplier or end customer locations

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (or acceptable related Engineering discipline)
  • 1-2 years Engineering role experience
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical testing standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Capable of following strict adherence to detailed specifications
  • Visual acuity necessary to inspect material and workmanship to published specifications
  • Ability to operate computer and electronic equipment requiring fine adjustment and data entry
  • Able to work independently or in a team environment with minimal supervision

Desired Qualifications:

  • Quality Engineering experience in automotive or electromechanical technology industries
  • Familiarity with ISO9001, ITAF 16949:  current editions or equivalent standards
  • Six Sigma green belt certification
  • Familiarity with Linux based operating systems
  • General knowledge of industrial communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet)
