Michigan Broadband Services, a leading provider of high-speed communications solutions, is seeking a Pole Auditor to service the entire Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  This position is responsible for inspecting utility poles, documenting cable attachments, collecting field data, and helping ensure compliance with safety and industry standards.  No previous utility experience is required – we’re looking for dependable individuals with a strong attention to detail who enjoy working outdoors.

 

The ideal candidate enjoys traveling, working independently, has strong attention to detail, and is committed to working safely.  This is a full-time position offering competitive pay, and a comprehensive benefits package.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections of utility poles to assess decay, rot, insect damage, and overall structural integrity.
  • Tag and stencil poles as required.
  • Document cable attachments and record field information accurately using company procedures to ensure all applicable revenue is captured and compliance with agreements is maintained for billing purposes.
  • Verify that new attachments and pole replacements are installed in accordance with engineering work orders.
  • Prepare condition reports and update the pole inventory database.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to use measuring tools to accurately collect and record field measurements using a tablet or mobile device
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license required
