Overview
This position within the Strategic Weapons Systems (SWS) Program Office provides test engineering and construction support for COLUMBIA/DREADNOUGHT relative to the platform integration of SWS equipment at the Quonset Point facility.
Responsibilities include:
- Working with Quality Assurance and material control organizations for receipt, stowage, and staging of SWS Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) including Installation and Construction materials.
- Reviewing the ship’s build plan with the Design/Build/Sustain and Advanced Planning organizations to ensure it has been optimized relative to the integration of the SWS equipment.
- Coordinating with operations and test personnel to ensure proper engineering support for execution of structure builds, piping system, or electrical system construction and installation activities associated with the SWS and the Strategic Weapons Support Systems (SWSS) equipment.
- Managing the timely resolution of issues identified during SWSS construction, SWS GFE integration and/or conduct of SWS Test Procedures with Groton/New London Engineering and Design personnel in support of a timely resolution.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
- 5+ years submarine/ship construction and/or test experience or a 4-year technical degree in lieu of experience
Skills
- System engineering education/experience
- Understanding of technical systems, system design, construction, and/or testing
- Ability to read system diagrams/engineering drawings
- Work travel may be required
- Some 2nd shift and weekends may be required
- Good communication (written and oral) and organizational skills are required
- Ability to multitask
