Key Responsibilities
- Program Creation: Write, edit, and maintain complex programs for CNC machines (mills, lathes) using CAD/CAM software.
- Blueprint Analysis: Interpret technical blueprints, drawings, and 3D models to plan the machining process.
- Tooling Selection: Choose the appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and speeds/feeds to optimize production efficiency and precision.
- Troubleshooting: Analyze and correct errors in programs, adjust tool offsets, and resolve issues during machining.
- Quality Control: Inspect the first-run parts, ensuring they meet engineering specifications using measuring tools like micrometers and calipers.
- Collaboration: Work with engineers and machinists to improve manufacturing techniques.
Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications- Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360) and G-code.
- Mathematical Skills: Advanced knowledge of algebra, trigonometry, and geometry for calculating dimensions.
- Blueprint Reading: Expert ability to interpret complex technical drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Mechanical Aptitude: Deep understanding of machining processes, materials, and machine tool capabilities.
- Education/Experience: High school diploma with relevant experience, or a technical certificate/associate degree in machining or engineering.
