Position Summary

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving appetizing, nutritious meals while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation. This role works closely with the Chef and Culinary Director to ensure residents receive exceptional meals that meet dietary and nutritional requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and menu standards
  • Follow special dietary requirements, including diabetic, cardiac, gluten-free, mechanical soft, and other modified diets
  • Coordinate food preparation to ensure meals are served fresh, on time, and at proper temperatures
  • Portion and prepare food for service
  • Complete daily production and temperature logs
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment
  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and workstations
  • Assist dietary aides and support team members as needed
  • Provide friendly, respectful service to residents, families, visitors, and coworkers
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous cooking or food service experience required
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Must successfully pass a background check, drug screening, and reference check

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling
  • Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds with assistance when necessary
  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced kitchen environment
