We are seeking a highly motivated and technical Electronics Test Engineer II to join our team at Spartronics. The Test Engineerplays a key role in ensuring product quality, reliability, and compliance for complex aerospace and defense electronic assemblies. This position focuses on developing, implementing, validating, and supporting manufacturing test solutions—including functional tests, in-circuit tests, fixtures, and debug activities. Test Engineers collaborate closely with engineering, production, quality, and customer teams to ensure test coverage, drive yield improvements, and support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities. 

This intermediate-level role requires strong technical depth in electronics, hands-on test engineering capability, and the ability to independently execute tasks while contributing to broader improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:


Test Development & Implementation:

  • Develop, design, and implement intermediate-level test processes, fixtures, and procedures for electronic assemblies, PCBA, and system-level products.
  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and engineering documentation to create effective test strategies.
  • Program, configure, and modify automated test solutions using languages such as Python, C/C++, or Visual Basic.
  • Support development and validation of NPI test solutions, ensuring effective coverage and manufacturability.
  • Contribute to quoting, test time estimates, and test-related CapEx planning.

Production Support & Troubleshooting:

  • Provide hands-on debugging of complex test failures, identifying the root cause through circuit analysis and component-level troubleshooting.
  • Execute failure analysis, isolate defects, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Calibrate and maintain test equipment, test fixtures, and test stations to ensure accuracy and repeatability.
  • Resolve challenging test escalations from operators and technicians.

Data Analysis, Yield Improvement & Process Optimization:

  • Monitor and analyze test yields, defect data, and trends to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and quality teams to implement improvements that reduce cost, improve the support efforts to ensure data integrity and accuracy in production test environments.
  • Participate in systematic problem-solving, including 5 Whys, Ishikawa, and root-cause analysis activities 

Compliance, Validation & Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure test processes comply with aerospace, defense, and industry standards (AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO 13485 when required).
  • Support test validation activities, including IQ/OQ/PQ processes as needed for regulated or customer-specific applications.
  • Document and maintain test procedures, calibration records, and test configuration files in accordance with engineering change processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Training:

  • Work closely with design engineering to provide DFT/DFM recommendations.
  • Train production operators and technicians on test procedures, equipment use, and debug basics.
  • Communicate issues, risks, and recommendations clearly to internal and external customers.
  • Provide timely technical support for test engineering inquiries and customer requests.

Requirements


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in EMS, aerospace, defense, or regulated electronics manufacturing.
  • Experience with RF test methods or RF test automation.
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW or test automation frameworks.
  • Exposure to ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO 13485 compliance environments.
  • Understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, or structured problem-solving processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in electronics test engineering, manufacturing test, or hardware validation.
  • Experience with electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, logic analyzers, power supplies, etc.)
  • Programming experience in Python, C/C++, Visual Basic, or similar languages.
  • Strong understanding of analog and digital circuits, schematics, and PCB architectures.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting down to the component level.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills with strong attention to detail. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; strong Excel capability.
  • Must be U.S. persons within the definition of ITAR, with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.  We can not sponsor Visas.

  • On-Time Delivery of test development and support activities.
  • Test implementation accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability.
  • Cycle time improvements and reduction in test escapes.
  • Test validation effectiveness (robustness, coverage, repeatability).
