Sky Lake Veterinary Hospital, part of the Suveto network of hospitals, is looking for an experienced full-time Certified Veterinary Technician to join our Team! We are proud to serve the Miami, FL area for everything pet related.

Our Veterinary Technicians are responsible for performing basic medical, diagnostic, and laboratory procedures under the direction of a licensed veterinarian.

 

This is a full-time position; $23.00 per hour.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare exam rooms and assist in appointments with doctors.
  • Take history from client. Perform physical assessments and record observations legibly in medical record.
  • Educate clients on preventative healthcare recommendations and provide follow up.
  • Communicate any patient or client concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform venipuncture to collect blood samples, perform in house laboratory tests, and prepare all forms to be sent to outside labs, call owner with results as requested by veterinarian.
  • Provide and monitor all nursing care as requested by veterinarian for patients admitted to hospital, including medications (all routes) and monitoring.
  • Admit and discharge patients to hospital by following all admission and discharge protocols. Educate clients on admit/discharge.
  • Clean and restock exam rooms, treatment areas, hospital wards and other areas as requested.
  • Dispense veterinarian approved medication, patient food, printing treatment sheets, discharge instructions, cage card labels, x ray and lab labels, recording communication with client and doctors, and others as directed by veterinarian.
  • Perform diagnostic imaging as requested by veterinarian.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS and EXPERIENCE: 

  • Must be a Certified Veterinary Technician in the state of Florida
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent).
  • At least 3 years of clinical veterinary hospital experience required.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to new situations.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to act as a team player.
  • Basic veterinary medical terminology required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is highly valued.  Special consideration will be given to candidates that are proficient in both English and Spanish.
  • Must have proficient knowledge of veterinarian practice software.
  • Must have clear understanding and enforcement of OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
