Borinquen Medical Centers is based in Miami, Florida and is seeking to hire a full-time Medical Assistant to join our team. The position of Medical Assistant performs assistance in the examination and treatment of patients under general supervision. 

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks; checks in patients, assists in obtaining patient histories, takes vital signs, prepares charts, and assists with medical examinations. 
  2. Maintains stocks of medical supplies as necessary in the exam rooms. 
  3. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information, including week of pregnancy, if apply, and document on patients' charts. 
  4. Educates and advises patients on specified medical issues within established parameters. 
  5. Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods. 
  6. Perform finger sticks, pregnancy tests, rapid flu or strep, urine dipsticks. 
  7. Performs standing orders as approved by department and in accordance with policy and procedures. 
  8. Records Quality and HEDIS measures in electronic record 
  9. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. 
  10. Administers basic immunizations when approved by physician including proper immediate documentation; Administer basic oral therapies under direct order from physician when applicable including proper immediate documentation.
  11. Works and completes tasks in electronic medical record system in a timely manner. 
  12. Translate when necessary. 
  13. Reports directly to Clinical Manager and assistant manager as unusual problems arise; Support staff in assigned project based work. 

REQUIREMENTS

  1. High School Diploma, or equivalent. 
  2. Medical assistant certificate 
  3. CPR Certification
  4. 0-2 years of experience in a related field. 
  5. Bilingual preferred. 
  6. Strong interpersonal skills.
