This responsibility means our tutors are the critical force propelling our network and must be able to achieve marked results in student comprehension. In accord with our tradition of excellence during our 88 years as an independent school, we are looking for extraordinary individuals to fill the positions at Miami Country Day School’s Student Success Network. We are seeking an experienced and engaging tutor to work with students in grades 6th–12th across a variety of academic subjects. The ideal candidate is patient, organized, and passionate about helping students build confidence, independence, and strong study habits. In addition to academic support, this role requires experience with executive functioning coaching, including assisting students with organization, time management, planning, task completion, and accountability.     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND TASKS: Adapts tutoring strategies, pacing, and instructional approaches in response to individual student needs and progress. Communicates with students, parents, and school administrators in a professional, respectful, and effective manner regarding student progress and tutoring needs. Maintains an accurate and up-to-date tutoring schedule in the designated online tutoring portal. Completes and submits required daily reports to the appropriate school divisions. Documents student progress and maintains progress-monitoring notes, sharing required information with MCDS administration and recording it in the designated portal. Maintains appropriate supervision of students and follows established school procedures and protocols to support student safety and well-being.    SCHEDULE: Must be available to work on MCDS campus 4-5 weekdays each week Daytime availability is preferred 1-2x week (between 8:30 -3:30pm) QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS  Bachelor’s degree preferred. Five years of tutoring experience preferred, including a minimum of three years of experience tutoring students outside of a traditional classroom setting. Experience working with students in grades 6–12. Experience tutoring multiple subject areas preferred. Experience supporting students with ADHD, learning differences, and/or academic challenges preferred. Experience providing executive functioning support or coaching preferred. Strong professional references related to tutoring, teaching, or student support.   KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of effective tutoring and instructional strategies for students in grades 6–12. Ability to individualize instruction based on students’ learning needs, strengths, and progress. Strong executive functioning coaching skills, including organization, time management, planning, and study strategies. Ability to engage and motivate students while creating a positive and supportive learning environment. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with students, families, faculty, and administrators. Strong organizational, time-management, and self-management skills, with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment. Ability to demonstrate patience, compassion, dependability, and adaptability when working with students with varying academic and learning needs. Proficiency with technology and digital platforms used for tutoring and communication, including Zoom, Google Docs, Gmail, and TutorBird.
