Community Health & Prevention Coordinator (Full-Time)
Tri-County SPC Region: Cranston, Johnston, North Providence, Scituate & Smithfield
Flexible schedule, must be based in Rhode Island
Reports To: Prevention Director
The SPC Regional Coalition and this position aim to prevent substance while promoting healthy, positive lifestyle choices through education, programming, and community engagement. This position also leads opioid overdose prevention efforts across five municipalities.”
Duties and responsibilities of the Community Health & Prevention Coordinator include, but are not limited to the following:
- Recruit and engage stakeholders across six core sectors: business, education, healthcare, government, community/family supports, and public safety.
- Build and strengthen partnerships with schools, colleges, businesses, municipalities, and other community organizations.
- Implement evidence-based prevention programs for middle and high school youth in Smithfield in collaboration with school administrators.
- Lead opioid overdose prevention outreach and education with businesses, colleges, and community partners.
- Develop and deliver presentations, public awareness campaigns, and community education related to substance use prevention, overdose prevention, and health promotion.
- Coordinate coalition meetings, events, trainings, and prevention activities, including facilitating at least 10 municipal prevention coalition meetings annually.
- Develop program materials, track activities and deliverables, complete required reports, and support broader departmental prevention initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, sociology, health studies, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience with community outreach, public health, prevention, or coalition work
- Strong public speaking, organization, and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic graphic design software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently and as part of a team
- Availability to work an occasional evening or weekend, as needed
- Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds.
