About the Position

P17 Solutions is seeking a Computer Scientist / Data Analyst to provide technical and operational support for the collection, extraction, analysis, validation, and distribution of TFDM system data in support of Terminal Second Level Engineering (TSLE) activities. The position serves as a critical liaison between operational sites, engineering teams, software developers, and system maintainers to ensure accurate and timely acquisition of data required for incident investigation, problem reporting, system integration, deployment, and operational sustainment. Responsibilities include collection of system logs, application traces, database extracts, configuration files, and operational artifacts associated with software defects, anomaly reports, engineering requests, and deployment activities

Job Requirements

Data Collection and Extraction

  • Collect operational and technical data from TFDM operational sites, laboratories, and support environments.
  • Retrieve Unix/Linux system logs, application logs, message traces, database records, configuration files, and diagnostic artifacts.
  • Support data collection activities associated with AIMS tickets, problem reports, anomaly reports, and engineering investigations.
  • Coordinate directly with FAA personnel, site technicians, and system administrators to obtain required data within established response timelines.
  • Validate completeness, accuracy, and integrity of collected information before distribution. 

Data Analysis and Investigation Support

  • Analyze collected data to identify trends, errors, anomalies, and performance issues.
  • Prepare technical summaries and data packages supporting engineering investigations and defect resolution activities.
  • Review system logs and operational data to identify potential root causes of system issues.
  • Support engineering teams by providing timely and organized technical information for troubleshooting activities.
  • Develop visualizations, reports, and metrics supporting system sustainment efforts. 

AIMS Ticket and TAB Support

  • Support the collection and organization of information associated with Action Item Management System (AIMS) tickets.
  • Participate in TFDM AIMS Board (TAB) meetings and provide technical support regarding collected data.
  • Track open issues and ensure required supporting data is available for board review.
  • Generate status reports, action item trackers, and engineering summaries for TSLE leadership.
  • Monitor ticket status and coordinate additional data requests from engineering and development teams. 

Data Packaging and Configuration Management

  • Organize collected information using approved directory structures and naming conventions.
  • Prepare data packages for secure distribution to approved engineering and development organizations.
  • Maintain data repositories and ensure compliance with FAA cybersecurity and information assurance requirements.
  • Remove or sanitize sensitive and personally identifiable information (PII) prior to distribution.
  • Verify successful upload, transfer, and integrity of distributed datasets. [

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate with FAA operational facilities, TSLE personnel, software developers, laboratory personnel, and deployment teams.
  • Assist facilities with access requests, onboarding, and usage of AIMS and supporting systems.
  • Develop user guides, training materials, and standard operating procedures supporting data collection activities.
  • Support site readiness and deployment activities requiring operational data collection. 

Required Skills and Abilities 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Aviation Technology, or related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting operational systems, technical troubleshooting, systems engineering, software testing, or data analysis.
  • Experience working within Windows and Linux/Unix environments.
  • Ability to analyze system logs, database records, and technical data sets.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
  • Data collection, normalization, validation, and reporting.
  • Systems integration and operational support.
  • Configuration management principles.
  • Technical documentation development.
  • Organization and prioritization of multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Ability to interact effectively with engineers, developers, air traffic personnel, and senior government stakeholders.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain FAA suitability and system access requirements.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Skills Preferred:

  • Prior FAA, NAS, TFDM, TBFM, ERAM, STARS, TFMS, or air traffic management experience.
  • Knowledge of ATO operational environments and NAS modernization programs.
  • Experience supporting software sustainment, systems engineering, integration, or deployment projects.
  • Familiarity with SQL, scripting languages, and automated data collection techniques.
  • Experience supporting incident management, problem reporting, or defect tracking systems.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity and information assurance requirements.

Work Environment & Travel

  • Must reside within 90-mile radius of the William J. Hughes Technical Center, Egg Harbor Township
  • Position requires >60% of domestic travel to FAA sites.

Compensation Package:

Pay will be commensurate with experience, based on qualifications, certifications, location, clearance level, and contract requirements.
