ASRC Federal Advanced Research LLC (AFAR) is seeking an experienced Hardware Technical Specialist to join our Enterprise Information Display System (E-IDS) team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This is a full-time on-site position at the William J Hughes Technical Center for Advanced Aerospace (WJHTCAA). 

 

The FAA’s Enterprise Information Display System (E-IDS) is a modernized, enterprise-level platform and display developed in-house to replace multiple legacy Information Display Systems (IDSs) in over 500 air traffic control facilities. It provides static and real-time consolidated data to controllers, including weather, airport runway status/visibility, maps, and facility directives aimed at improving efficiency.

 

Citizenship Requirement

All candidates must have the following to pass the Federal Background Investigation and obtain the FAA Public Trust security clearance.

  • Be a US Citizen, have a US Green Card, or a Non-immigrant Work Authorization (VISA).
  • Have resided in the US for three (3) consecutive years.
  • The company is unable to sponsor candidates at this time. 
  • RealID Driver’s License/ID or current US Passport.

 

Relocation Requirement

Candidate must reside or be willing to relocate within a commutable distance to Egg Harbor Township, NJ. 

 

Education & Experience Requirement

All non-US Degrees must have a US Equivalency Certificate provided by the candidate. 

  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Associated degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Programming or similar science/technology, OR
    • A Certificate of Training in a two-year Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Programming or similar curriculum from a community college, vocational education school, or military training may be substituted in lieu of the associate of science degree, depending on other qualifications or experience, OR
    • A minimum of 4 years of experience in this specific technical area that is pertinent to the support of the National Airspace System (NAS).
  • Nine (9) or more years of experience is required.
  • NAS experience is preferred.

 

 Required Skills 

  • Experience/Proficiency in:
    • Thin Client Engineering
    • VDI Management
    • Hardware Infrastructure Management
    • PowerShell, Python, or Bash to automate tasks and endpoint configurations
    • Patch & Asset Management
    • Networking Skills
  • Ability to:
    • Work independently, as well as a team. 
    • Lift up to 30 lbs.
    • Multi-task across teams in a structured environment.
    • Research and problem solve; willingness to learn/try new things
    • Communicate effectively through verbal and written communication; including developing technical documentation.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in an agile DevOps environment with a focus on automation, continuous integration, and infrastructure reproducibility.
  • Implement DevOps methodologies to ensure strict configuration consistency across Dev, Test, and Production environments.
  • Utilize automation to minimize configuration drift. IT related certificates.
  • Write clear, concise, and structured technical documentation for engineering teams.

 

Essential Daily Job Duties

  • Zero/Thin Client Engineering: Design, configure, deploy, and manage the lifecycle of 10ZiG Zero Client endpoints. Maintain and optimize configurations and master images to ensure seamless user experiences. Support operational deployments and facility configurations.
  • VDI Management: Administer and optimize connection to Omnissa Horizon VDI infrastructure, ensuring performance tuning, system hardening and seamless desktop delivery to endpoints.
  • Dev/Test Lab: Maintain, organize, and support dedicated DEV and Test lab environments. Ensure lab infrastructure mirrors the operational baseline and production standards for accurate testing.
  • DevOps: Work in an agile DevOps environment with a focus on automation, continuous integration, and infrastructure reproducibility. Implement DevOps methodologies to ensure strict configuration consistency across Dev, Test, and Production environments. Utilize automation to minimize configuration drift.
  • Hardware Infrastructure Management: Strong background as a hardware specialist, including server racking, cable management, system maintenance, and maintaining lab environments. Manage and maintain hardware infrastructure including 10ZiG Zero Clients, Raritan Dominion KVMs and ZPE Console Servers.
  • Patch & Asset Management: Tracking software/firmware lifecycles and executing enterprise-wide patch management strategies. Oversee firmware and software patch management schedules for all endpoints and lab hardware. Track, audit, and log hardware assets throughout their lifecycle.
  • Technical Documentation: Author, maintain, and update high-quality technical procedures, including System Support Modifications, architectural diagrams, configuration guides, and spreadsheets.

 

 Work Environment

  • Full-time position with a standard work schedule. Nights and weekends may be required.
  • 10% travel may be required within CONUS.
