Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position): The Kitchen Manager team consists of the five kitchen managers and the purchaser. The main goal of the team is to maintain a successful, clean and efficient kitchen, while still keeping employees morale high. The Kitchen manager team works very closely with every branch of the Pause, as well as the many campus organizations that purchase large food orders and hold events at the Pause.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Establish open/close dates for the academic year and determine manager staffing structure.

  • Interview, hire, and train kitchen employees on operational and food safety protocols

  • Manage and oversee the staffing model and scheduling of kitchen staff.

  • Develop and implement a manager-on-call structure.

  • Maintain an active working understanding of kitchen machinery.

  • Uphold the established disciplinary procedure for warnings and terminations as needed.

  • Maintain active email communication.


Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills) 

  • Experience working within the Pause Kitchen or equivalent experience is preferred.


Physical and Environmental Factors:

This position requires exposure to loud noise, as well as rare exposure to respiratory factors, chemicals, vibrations, wet or humid conditions indoors, extreme cold, extreme heat, proximity hazards, and heights or cramped quarters. Protective equipment is required for some essential functions. Candidates must possess the ability to safely perform the physical work required of all duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
