Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians during patient exams and procedures
  • Room patients, record patient histories, vital signs, and document in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments per scope of certification
  • Perform limited radiographic imaging and ensure high-quality diagnostic images in accordance with provider orders and radiation safety standards (Limited Radiography only)
  • Prepare patients for imaging procedures and maintain radiology equipment and required documentation (Limited Radiography only)
  • Educate patients on health, medications, imaging procedures, and follow-up care
  • Coordinate referrals and patient care follow-ups
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants (Certificate, diploma, or Associate's Degree) required.
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the following required:
    • National Healthcare Association
    • American Association of Medical Assistants
    • National Center for Competency Testing
    • National Certified Medical Assistant
    • National Association of Health Professionals
    • American Registry of Medical Assistants
    • American Allied Health
    • American Medical Technologists
  • Current Iowa Limited Radiography Permit required for positions hiring/requiring Limited Radiography.
  • Knowledge of radiographic safety practices and the ability to perform limited diagnostic imaging in accordance with provider orders and regulatory standards preferred.
  • Prior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with EPIC a plus!
  • For positions within UnityPoint Clinic, team members may be required to work at or float to other locations to support optimized staffing.
