Summary:

The Lead Patient Services Transporter oversees and coordinates the daily operations of the patient transport team to ensure patient safety, optimize workflow efficiency, and support patient throughput. This role also assists management staff by providing training, guidance and support to transport team members.

Responsibilities:

1. Performs all duties of Patient Transporter and as a resource for the department staff.

2. Assists management with coaching, mentoring, and training all patient services transporters and dispatchers.

3. Identifies opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and process effectiveness.

4. Conducts infection control and hand hygiene audits to ensure compliance with patient safety protocols.

5. Maintains and perform bi-annual inventory of transport equipment; reports malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor/manager.

6. Conducts daily inspections of the oxygen storage room and patient transport equipment (ex. wheelchairs, stretchers, oxygen tanks).

7. Maintains confidentially of patient information and communicates in a respectful and professional manner.

8. Supports a safe and orderly work environment by keeping hallways and storage rooms clear of equipment.

9. Cleans and disinfects transport equipment between patient uses.

10. Applies basic trapeze setups and retrieves equipment for other transaction devices as needed.

11. Maintain and model the organization's Values. 

12. Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance. 

13. Performs other duties as required.

Education Skills Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must understand and speak conversational English
  • Desired: Bilingual preferred
  • Possess strong listening and comprehension skills
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to work with diverse patient populations, including elderly, sick, and physically challenged individuals.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force
