Overview:

This position is responsible for safety and effective operation of Cedar Point's authentic coal fired steam locomotives. Will maintain a rolling stock and anticipate the need for material, making timely requisitions and overseeing the hiring, training and scheduling of firemen and engineers. This safety oriented leader will ensure guests have an excellent ride experience.


Responsibilities:
  • Maintains effective supervision of the C.P. & L.E. Railroad, which includes the engine house, steam engines, rolling stock, track conditions
    and assigned personnel
  • Complete daily, weekly, monthly and annual inspections of railroad rolling stock, tracks and related equipment providing documentation as required
  • Assist workers in diagnosis of equipment malfunctions based on observation and applying knowledge from past experiences
  • Promoting a safe work environment by conducting safety trainings and meetings
  • Maintain accurate records of employee issues such as work days, vacations, sick days, counseling and disciplinary action as well as perform other supervisory and all other duties assigned by their Superintendent
  • Monitoring the operations to ensure that work is completed in a consistent and safe manner
  • Collaborate with managers, supervisors and team members to formulate and implement policies, procedures, schedules, goals and objectives

Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Requires specialized knowledge of the construction, maintenance, repair and operations techniques related to historic steam locomotives and Antique Boiler License
  • Experience with Steam Locomotive Maintenance/Operation Preferred
  • Low Pressure Boiler License preferred
  • Leadership experience supervising staff
  • Proficient in basic computer programs such as Outlook, MS Excel and MS Word
  • Ability to assist in keeping the Engine House within budget
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education, and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law
