Position Summary: 

 

The National Dean of Online Nursing Education is responsible for management of the Nursing programs delivery of online (hybrid) nursing education. The National Dean of Online Nursing reports to the Vice President of Nursing and is a member of the Nursing Executive Team. The National Dean of Online Nursing is responsible to work with the Nursing programs, the EA Education and Human Resources divisions and others to create and maintain a system that delivers high quality online nursing education. The National Dean of Online Nursing is responsible for ensuring the online nursing programs and online nursing faculty meet organizational and regulatory standards. The National Dean works with the Deans of Nursing, campus leaders and other EA staff to support the overall EA goals for the nursing programs

Nursing Hybrid Faculty staff and establishes processes to ensure hybrid nursing faculty and online course content achieve the expected level of performance and are in compliance with the EA policies, relevant state regulations and any applicable accreditation standards.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the selection, staffing, scheduling, and development of faculty for the online nursing courses
  • Oversees operational aspects of on line delivery including monitoring campus level escalations and follow through, student persistence and outcomes for those attending the on line courses
  • Prepares and maintains the online schedules, plans for staffing and monitors online faculty productivity
  • Participates in the evaluation of online curriculum delivery and contributes to the  continuous improvement initiatives
  • Works with campuses and other departments to insure effective delivery of didactic content that aligns with the other components of the nursing programs.
  • Develops, implements, evaluates and participates in refining systems that result in effective and high quality online nursing courses for the Fortis and St. Paul Schools of Nursing
  • Participates in development and implementation of the online faculty training and development
  • Serves as the Nursing Division facilitator for collaboration with the EA Hybrid team and supports effective coordination and communication.
  • Collaborates with other EA divisions to ensure the online nursing education is comprehensive and coordinated with other EA faculty training and performance initiatives.
  • Participates in making recommendations for revisions to policies and activities related to the online nursing education delivery.
  • Work a flexible schedule in order to meet the needs the nursing programs and as requested other EA activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills/Competencies/Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Nursing required
  • Active, unencumbered RN license
  • A minimum of five years of progressive nursing academic administrative experience
  • Significant experience in working with NCLEX and retention initiatives.
  • Competent using suite of MS Word and MS Excel, excellent writing skills, excellent communication skills and ability to multitask.
  • Organized with proven ability to manage projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience working in pre-licensure nursing programs is strongly preferred. Competence in use of MS-Office Suite and technology.

 

Classification:  Exempt

 

Work Hours:  Forty per week but may vary daily, and some evening and weekend hours may be required.

 

Travel:  This position requires occasional travel (25 – 50%).
