Marin Community Clinics, founded in 1972, is today, a multi-clinic network with a wide array of integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty and referral services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide vital health services to almost 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County. The Clinics regularly receive national awards from the Health Resources and Services Administrations (HRSA). The Family Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing and managing quality health care services to patients of Marin Community Clinics. The provider reports directly to the site Medical Director.

  • 3+ Years of hands on primary care clinical experience is required (experience excludes clinical rotations/clerkships) will consider candidates who have completed a residency hands-on training program of 12 or more month’s duration.
  • $50k  Signing bonus available for select applicants (specific program terms apply)

Responsibilities

  • Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for a specified patient population. Consult with staff physicians as needed.
  • Furnishes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions, within their scope of practice.
  • Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.
  • Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
  • As appropriate to the position, participates in specific health promotion, education and/or prevention programs.
  • Assists in the ongoing development and implementation of performance-improvement activities such as quality assurance, peer review, and staff development.
  • Maintains a professional relationship with staff and patients.
  • Performs other related and/or necessary tasks to achieve clinic goals and objectives, as directed by the Medical Director.
  • In addition to regularly scheduled shifts, is able to work a minimum of three (3) 4-hour Saturday shifts per calendar year, providing medical care to patients within the standard scope of practice. Requirement begins after 90-day training period. Requirement begins after 90-day training period and compensation for coverage to be outlined in offer.

  • In addition to regularly schedule shifts, is available to respond to after-hour calls regarding critical lab results for adult patients throughout the organization for a minimum of 2 weeks per year, this includes pager responsibilities. Requirement begins after 90-day training period and compensation for coverage to be outlined in offer.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must have a current California Nurse Practitioner medical license to practice.  
  • Must have a current California license issued by the Board of Registered Nurses/Medical Board of California.
  • Current registration issued by the DEA allowing the prescription of drugs.
  • Current BLS certification and current national certificate.
  • 3+ Years of hands on primary care clinical experience is required (experience excludes clinical rotations/clerkships) will consider candidates who have completed a residency hands-on training program of 12 or more month’s duration.
  • Experience using electronic health care records Epic highly desired.  

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Computer skills required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills highly desired.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Sensitive to the needs and situations of a multi-cultural population from a variety of income levels.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Fulfill immunization and fit for duty regulatory requirements. 
  • Prolonged standing and walking
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
