About Us & Job Overview

For over 40 years, Heritage Landscapes has partnered with clients, landscape architects, and general contractors to create and care for high-end residential outdoor living spaces. Serving the Bay Area—including Marin, Sonoma, Napa, and San Francisco counties—we are dedicated to long-term client relationships, exceptional landscape craftsmanship, and environmental stewardship. We are seeking a versatile, high-performing Landscaping Project Manager to join our growing team. In this full project lifecycle role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for high-end residential design-build & bid-build projects. If you are a landscape professional who loves creative custom design, thrives on accurate construction math, and excels at high-touch client relations, this role is for you.

Core Responsibilities

Design-Build Projects

  • Meet directly with prospective residential estate clients to discover project goals, assess site conditions, and establish design budgets.
  • Develop creative, highly customized conceptual landscape designs, including 2D/3D layouts, planting plans, and premium material selections.
  • Build detailed, itemized project estimates and pricing structures for your custom designs to ensure target profit margins.
  • Present concepts and estimates to clients, refine design options, and close the sales contract.

Bid-Build Projects

  • Perform precise digital material takeoffs from external landscape architect blueprints and premium general contractor bid packages.
  • Calculate exact costs for artisan labor, high-grade materials, logistics, and specialized equipment rentals.
  • Provide value engineering solutions to make the bids highly competitive while protecting company profit margins, and win the bid.

Client Communication, Project Management & Financial Oversight

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, landscape architects, and general contractors, keeping them fully informed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Direct technical project layouts, hardscaping details, and planting schemes to ensure design specifications are executed flawlessly.
  • Procure premium plants, custom hardscape materials, and specialized site equipment ahead of production timelines.
  • Manage overall project schedules, track ongoing job costs, and execute client change-orders proactively in real time.
  • Oversee the project billing lifecycle: generate timely progress invoices based on percent completion schedules, track accounts receivable (A/R), and manage client collections to secure positive project cash flow.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 3–5+ years of experience in custom landscape design, estimating, and project management specifically within the high-end residential market.
  • Proven capability managing project budgets, understanding progress billing, and professionally handling billing and A/R collections. Proficiency with landscape design software and digital takeoff/estimating/accounting software.
  • Elite relationship-building skills with a background providing consultative, high-touch communication to clients and premium trade partners. Exceptional conflict-resolution skills.
  • Strong understanding of Northern California/Bay Area plant materials, microclimates, and high-end residential hardscape standards (masonry, grading, and drainage).
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to pivot seamlessly from an upscale design presentation to a technical problem-solving session with field production teams.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary : $125,000 / year plus company-wide profit sharing.
  • Health Benefits : Medical, Dental & Vision insurance plans.
  • Retirement : 401(k) plan with company match.
  • Paid Time Off : Vacation & Paid Sick Leave
  • Company Vehicle: provided for site visits & professional use.
