MERCHANDISING STAFFER (Level 1)

Reports to: Manager or Senior Manager or Assistant General Manager or General Manager

Compensation: $18-$24, non-exempt position. Specific starting wages are dependent on location and experience.

Full Description Summary: A Merchandiser staffer is someone who knows their zone/department inside and out, and they desire to grow their leadership skills. You’ll work directly with the Management team to ensure the day-to-day operations and expectations of the store are being met. You’ll assist with the day-to-day management of the zone/department by creating daily task lists and following through on projects. A Merchandiser staffer demonstrates WOW customer service in all aspects of Merchandising, and is a role model for fellow staffers. A Merchandiser staffer typically has oversight of multiple areas of the store’s visuals and assigned department staff. Do you love decorating and organizing? What you’ll do:

Product Management

• Identifies merch priorities for their zone/department and works with their manager to create a daily plan of action. 

• Works with department staff and Merchandising Team, to ensure all incoming product and projects are merchandised and completed efficiently, effectively, and safely (i.e. markdowns, retags, signage).

• Product management is logical, creative and ultimately results in a great shopping experience.

• Effectively utilize communication tools to share what's new and what's changed.

• Consistently ensure store signage and displays are accurate, enticing and informative

• Learn to communicate with Buyers to improve product management.

• Collaborates with the merchandising team to create awesome department/zone displays.

• Works with their Supervising Manager to learn, understand, and implement department goals while maintaining cleanliness and organization, prioritizing safety at all times, in all work areas.

Customer Service

• Able to provide outstanding (WOW) customer service.

• Expert in home zone/department and proficient in one other department to provide excellent on-the-spot customer service.

• Learning to implement SB's Security Policy.

Business Experience

• Stays up-to-date with all company information and quickly implements department initiatives.

• Is aware of daily goals and keeps track of store performance against set goals. 

• Works with a supervising manager to identify assigned department staffing needs, reviews applications and conducts interviews, keeping diversity and inclusion efforts top priority.

• Responsible for working with their manager to complete daily operations in the assigned zone/department. 

• Demonstrates “ok is not ok” and actively seeks out improvement opportunities for their assigned zone/department.

• Is a self-starter and understands how to prioritize daily workload

• With oversight from the manager, a lead helps to delegate and give clear instructions to store staff; works efficiently with staff to complete daily tasks.

• Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally.

• Understands the charm of Sports Basement, and creates a positive and fun vibe that elevates the customer and staff experience
