POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position: Sourcing Specialist
Department: SCD – Procurement

JOB SUMMARY:
The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for developing and executing strategic and tactical procurement activities in alignment with Global Commodity Management. This role plays a critical part in driving supplier innovation, program launches, cost optimization, quality, delivery, and escalation management. This position fosters strong supplier relationships, supports continuous improvement, and contributes to the achievement of overall business goals.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy Execution & Category Management
Execute sourcing strategy aligned with GCM direction for key raw materials; metals and resins
Drive supplier innovation and early engagement initiatives, including engineering changes, MCIP execution, program launches, lifecycle management, cost control, delivery, and escalation management
Translate category strategy into actionable sourcing plans
Manage and maintain multiple tools and systems, including ERP, sourcing platforms, and supplier databases, ensuring accuracy and integrity across 100+ materials, suppliers, or processes
Support execution and compliance of supplier contracts, including LTAs, NDAs, and commercial agreements
Sourcing & Execution
Lead RFQs and sourcing approaches; coordinate sourcing events and benchmarking activities
Coordinate feasibility meetings with suppliers, Engineering, and Quality
Develop and identify supplier and sourcing risks
Re-Sourcing & Continuous Improvement
Manage re-sourcing activities, including feasibility studies, bank builds, tooling transfers, and obsolescence tracking
Coordinate last-time-buy strategies
Identify and implement MCIP projects aligned with assigned commodities and company goals
Execute engineering changes and assess cost/supply impact
Program Launch & Delivery
Drive on-time program launches while meeting piece price, tooling, and material cost targets
Coordinate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to meet quality, delivery, and financial objectives
Identify and escalate launch timing delays
Execute prototype, tooling, and sample orders, support PM with quote preparation
Cost & Price Management
Negotiate project pricing and execute cost reduction / MCIP initiatives
Monitor Purchase Price Variance (PPV), track market and industry trends, and evaluate supplier capacity
 Ensure pricing accuracy in ERP systems, resolve supplier price changes through the Price Change process, and support annual standard setting and budget preparation
Supplier & Tool Management
Manage supplier relationships, KPIs, and master data
Manage annual tool refurbishment/replacement budgets, analyze quotations, negotiate awards, and support tooling change requests
Oversee prototype tooling and ensure alignment with program goals
Manage and maintain multiple tools and systems, including ERP, sourcing platforms, and supplier databases, ensuring accuracy and integrity across 100+ materials, suppliers, or processes
Identify risks and opportunities; communicate with stakeholders and GCM
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field
Minimum of five (5) years of purchasing or sourcing experience in the automotive industry, with direct responsibility for commodities at Tier I suppliers
Experience operating within a global matrix organization
Proven negotiation skills with direct ownership of sourcing strategies and supplier agreements (highly desirable: experience working with raw materials such as steel, copper, and indexed commodities)
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
Strong proficiency in ERP systems, sourcing tools, and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
25% Travel, domestic and/or international is possible
