As the Accounting Manager, you will oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. You'll manage audit activities, mentor accounting professionals, and work closely with finance, asset management, investor services, and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close Management
- Lead and review the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for assigned investment portfolios.
- Oversee the preparation and review of GAAP financial statements, lender reporting, and investor reporting.
- Perform consolidated variance analyses, investigating and resolving significant fluctuations and discrepancies.
- Ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and quality of all reporting deliverables.
Audit & Compliance
- Manage stand-alone investment-level audits, including planning, audit support, coordination with external auditors, and resolution of audit findings.
- Play a key role in the company's annual consolidated audit, including preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with external audit, tax, and advisory firms to support reporting requirements and K-1 preparation.
- Review substitute 1099 reporting for completeness and accuracy.
Accounting Operations & Special Projects
- Maintain investment management records within Yardi.
- Partner with Asset Management on property dispositions, including closing prorations, final distributions, and return calculations.
- Research and respond to investor inquiries in collaboration with Investor Services.
- Drive continuous process improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and reporting accuracy.
- Participate in special accounting, financial reporting, and analytical projects as assigned.
Leadership & Team Development
- Directly supervise, coach, and develop accounting staff and senior accountants.
- Provide ongoing performance feedback, mentorship, and career development opportunities.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with accounting and finance leadership to streamline workflows and improve operational effectiveness.
What We're Looking For
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required.
Experience
- 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience within real estate, investment management, private equity, or a similar asset-based environment strongly preferred.
- Previous management and supervisory experience required.
- Demonstrated success managing financial reporting and external audits.
Preferred Credentials
- CPA preferred but not required.
- Equivalent professional accounting certifications and experience will be considered.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial statement preparation.
- Experience managing investment-level and consolidated financial reporting.
- Understanding of lender and investor reporting requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, lookups, and data analysis.
- Experience with Yardi or similar real estate accounting systems preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Teams.
Leadership & Communication Skills
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop accounting professionals.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with auditors, lenders, investors, and senior leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Annual Base Salary Range: $112,228 - $143,090. This position is eligible to participate in the company’s annual discretionary bonus program. Â
