Overview

Responsible for directing multiple, complex Enterprise-wide strategic and operational projects across the Joint Commission Enterprise.  The Project Director, EPMO has full oversight and management of multiple complex projects, including liaising with partners across the Enterprise, supervising members of project teams, overseeing project implementations, managing and tracking project budgets to plan, and reporting, monitoring and evaluation of the projects.  Provide updates and interfaces with senior leadership related to the progress and outcomes of projects. Acts as a thought leader in quality and performance improvement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Direct multiple, complex Enterprise-wide strategic and operational projects to success, ensuring project goals are met with respective metrics and executed by working with project teams.
  • Serve as a mentor to Project Managers on EPMO team.
  • Serves as liaison with Enterprise-wide stakeholders on tasks, deliverables, and issues regarding strategic and operational projects. Leads transition of projects to Project Owners for sustained gains. Creates and monitors dashboards related to projects.
  • Provide project management guidance and expert advice across the Enterprise.
  • Direct multidisciplinary and cross-divisional teams to execute and drive strategic and operational opportunities.
  • Establish measurement and monitoring of Enterprise KPIs.
  • Establish and communicates key data, metrics and presentations for reporting, senior leadership review and approval, and enterprise communications.
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends within the project management community by participating in project management training, process improvement training, web conferences, and/or other available modes.
  • Other special projects or duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree required, masters preferred or 10+ years equivalent work experience. Certified Project Management strongly preferred.
  • Proven project management skills. Minimum of 5 years of experience leading operational and/or strategic projects and facilitating multi-disciplinary teams utilizing proven project management methodologies.
  • Strong operational, presentation, analytic, critical thinking, interpersonal, and project management skills.
  • Extensive computer skills in Microsoft suite applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI. 
  • Experience with Smartsheet strongly preferred.
  • The ability to prioritize and handle multiple, extensive, and diverse projects and responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Proven experience leading divisional projects from requirements gathering to implementation. This includes leading meetings, conducting customer webinars, and internal and external trainings and communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with senior leadership as well as individuals at various levels of the Enterprise, including ability to lead individuals in completing tasks, regardless of reporting relationship.
