JOB SUMMARYĀ

CoxĀ FleetĀ is currently hiring aĀ Sr.Ā Shop Trailer Mechanic.Ā This is a dedicated on-site shopĀ positionĀ and we do not provide emergency side of the road type repairs. The Sr Shop Trailer Technician will be responsible for performing certified DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, and other duties as assigned such as aluminum and chem-lite, trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps and engines, liftgates, brake chambers, welding, fabrication, replacement of panels, body and framework.Ā Ā Heavily relied upon for advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs by Shop Trailer Technician I/II.Ā Considered the Lead on jobsites by customers and Technicians.Ā Ā Functions as a consultant on the customer's behalf.Ā Ā A successful Sr Shop Trailer TechnicianĀ complies withĀ all company policies and achievesĀ high levelĀ performance metrics.Ā

DUTIESĀ

IndependentlyĀ determineĀ partsĀ requiredĀ for each job and interact with the Shop Parts Department to obtain them.Ā
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.Ā Ā AssistĀ in cleanup at the end of each day for tools, parts, and equipment.Ā
Applies knowledge that isĀ acquiredĀ through formal training or on-the-job experience to perform one's job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job.Ā
Work withĀ ServiceĀ Writer to assess customer needs,Ā providingĀ information or assistance,Ā resolvingĀ their problems, orĀ satisfyingĀ their expectations.Ā
Manage concurrent assigned tasks, making effective judgments as to prioritizing work related activities and time allocations.Ā

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (āPMā), DOT Inspections and follow up repairs on light,Ā mediumĀ and heavy-duty vehicles in a Shop environment.Ā
Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment.Ā
Use hand tools, precision instruments, as well as Trailer tools, welding equipment,Ā liftsĀ and jacks.Ā
Document according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and all findingsĀ observedĀ on Repair Orders (āROā) using company issued device and/or Karmak application.Ā
Accurately complete DOT forms and all other forms of documentation inĀ a timelyĀ fashion.Ā
MaintainĀ a high levelĀ of productivity and be able to work within or close to most Standard Repair Times.Ā
Communicate withĀ ShopĀ Manager and support team to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase orderĀ numbersĀ and/or discuss RO findings notes.Ā
Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations,Ā to includeĀ OSHA, EPA, and DOT.Ā
Participate and complete all-in companyĀ requiredĀ safety training.Ā
MaintainĀ Shop assigned service trucks, conduct safetyĀ checksĀ and daily pre/post trip inspections.Ā
Perform minor adjustment and repairs onĀ various typesĀ of trailer equipment and systemsĀ including, butĀ not limited to the following: aluminum and chem-lite, trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps and engines, liftgates, and brake chambers, Trailer steering systems.Ā
Adhere to company policies, processes, and procedures.Ā
Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of trailer equipment and systems including, but not limited to the following: aluminum and chem-lite, trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps and engines, liftgates, and brake chambers, Trailer steering systems, welding, fabrication, replacement of panels, body and framework.Ā
IdentifyĀ problems,Ā determineĀ accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.Ā
Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.Ā
Assist Shop TrailerĀ Technician IĀ with diagnostics.Ā
Support Shop Trailer Technician I/II in obtaining correct parts for each job.Ā Ā
IdentifyĀ problems,Ā determineĀ accuracy and relevance of information,Ā usingĀ sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations.Ā
Assist Shop Trailer Technician I/II with diagnostics.Ā
Perform advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs by Shop Trailer Technicians I/II.Ā

REQUIREMENTSĀ
High School Diploma/GED and 5 yearsā experience in a related field. The right candidateĀ Ā could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HSĀ diploma/GED in a related discipline and 3 yearsāĀ experience;Ā or 7 yearsā experience in aĀ related field.Ā
Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.Ā
OEM training and certifications are preferred.Ā
Participate in and complete all-in company required trainingĀ
Due to interstate operatingĀ authorityĀ commerce regulations, candidates must be at least 21 years or older.Ā Ā
