Job Summary:
 
Hunter’s Fabrication is a small, high-quality fabrication shop located in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. We specialize in custom metal fabrication, serving customers who depend on precision, reliability, and craftsmanship. As a tight-knit team, we value versatility, accountability, and a get-it-done attitude.

The Welder / Fabricator is responsible for producing high-quality weldments and subassemblies in accordance with engineering drawings and production schedules. This role goes beyond traditional welding — it involves fixture creation, part fit-up, and the assembly of components into completed products. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and skilled in interpreting technical documentation to deliver precise and reliable fabrication work.

Essential Duties:

  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Perform MIG welding using various techniques, including vertical up, fillet, butt welds, pulse, and overhead.
  • Fabricate fixtures and jigs to support repeatable and accurate assembly processes.

Fit, align, and assemble parts and subassemblies using hand tools, measuring instruments, and weld prep equipment.

  • Weld and fabricate large structural components in open space welding for heavy equipment frames according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Verify conformance of finished work to specifications using measuring tools and quality check procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production teams to improve manufacturability and welding processes.
  • Maintain equipment, tools, and work area in a clean and safe condition.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA standards.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or welding certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing or job shop environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and weld symbols.
  • Strong understanding of fixturing, layout, and dimensional accuracy.
  • Ability to use grinders, saws, drills, and other fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
  • Competence in operating overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment (training provided if necessary).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Commitment to safety, cleanliness, and quality workmanship.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in an industrial shop environment with exposure to heat, noise, and metalworking equipment..
