We are seeking a motivated Electronic Technician Lead to join our Scientific Instruments team. In this role, you will be responsible for testing electronic systems, subassemblies, parts, and components using established procedures and standard or computerized test equipment to ensure products meet internal and published specifications and standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

Electronic Testing, Troubleshooting & Calibration

  • Troubleshoot electronic systems and instruments to identify faults at the component level.
  • Read test schedules, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine appropriate testing procedures and equipment.
  • Calibrate test instruments and verify master software according to specifications.
  • Analyze and interpret test data to confirm products meet the requirements of associated test procedures.
  • Connect electronic assemblies, components, or firmware to test equipment, including ohmmeters, voltmeters, ammeters, oscilloscopes, disk copiers, curve tracers, multimeters, power supplies, and automated or computerized test systems.
  • Install software, firmware, and computer hardware.
  • Analyze test results from defective units to determine root causes of failure.
  • Maintain an efficient and organized work area using 5S tools.
  • Provide person-to-person training on product repair, calibration, and operational procedures to employees, partners, and customers.
  • Collaborate within a small team to achieve company and departmental goals.

Lead Technician Responsibilities

  • Coach, develop, and cross-train team members.
  • Facilitate problem-solving efforts and collaboration within teams and across functional departments.
  • Maintain productivity control by managing processes and procedures within the work area.
  • Lead pilot build activities and work closely with Engineering to ensure technician cross-training and equipment readiness.
  • Provide feedback to Engineering to support product improvements and technological advancements within Manufacturing.
  • Assist the manager in maintaining high production and service quality while supporting the closure of rework jobs and reduction of scrap.
  • Support the manager in fostering and maintaining 5S work environments across all work areas, including SOL, PAR, and SR.
     

Requirements

  • Associate degree from a college or technical school and a minimum of two years of experience as an Electronic Technician

Or 

  • Eight years of directly related experience without a degree.
  • IPC (J-STD-001) certification preferred but not required.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work effectively to deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide and receive constructive feedback and suggestions.
     

Working Environment

  • Hands-on role involving testing, troubleshooting, repair, assembly, and calibration of electronic products and systems.
  • Regular interaction with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and customer service.
