Overview:

We are seeking a Casual Part-time Staff Physician who will focus on providing comprehensive occupational and environmental health and medical services in ORNL’s Health Services Division's onsite clinic. This position resides in the Health Services Division, Environmental, Safety, Health, and Quality Directorate atĀ Oak Ridge National LaboratoryĀ (ORNL).

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive occupational and environmental health and medical services in ORNL’s Health Services Division's onsite clinic
  • Conducting comprehensive occupational and environmental medicine services to include, but not limited to evaluation of fitness for duty of employees for security- and safety-sensitive positions, occupational health programs evaluations
  • Department of Transportation evaluations, reading electrocardiograms (EKGs), radiographs, audiograms, pulmonary function testing, and fulfilling the Medical Review Officer (MRO) role for substance abuse prevention testing programs
  • Other duties supporting HSD needs at the discretion of the Medical Director based on education, training, and experience

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a governmental agency and research environment
  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy from an accredited school
  • LicenseĀ to practice medicine in the State of Tennessee, with no license-related restrictions
  • Board Certified in Occupational and Environmental Medicine, or other specialty recognized American Board of Preventive Medicine Specialty (Aerospace Medicine, Occupational and Environmental Medicine, or General Preventive Medicine)
  • Minimum of 7 years of clinical experience
  • Within 90 days acquire Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support Training with passing scores
  • Maintain all appropriate certifications, CME requirements, specialty board requirements, and licensure requirements
  • Within 120 days obtain REAC/TS basic course training
  • Within 2 years obtain REAC/TS advanced course training
  • Ability to perform periodic on call duties

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of clinical experience
  • Board certification in Occupational and Environmental Medicine (not Pathology)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs
  • Motivation to model appropriate health and wellness behaviors

Special Requirements:

  • Physical Requirements: Work involves various physical requirements and working conditions. As such, a pre-hire physical will be required after offer.
  • Visa Sponsorship: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Q clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
