Primary Responsibilities:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for hourly and salary non-exempt team members. This role requires a highly analytical, detail-oriented professional who takes ownership of payroll outcomes and proactively identifies and resolves issues. This individual will serve as a key partner to HR, operations, and financeāensuring payroll accuracy, maintaining compliance, and delivering clear, professional communication to employees and leadership. The role also serves as the designated backup for Corrigan OSB payroll operations, supporting continuity across locations.

- Process scheduled payroll cycles for Oakdale OSB employees accurately and on timeĀ Ā
- Review and validate payroll inputs, including hours worked, overtime, shift premiums, bonuses, deductions, and special paymentsĀ
- Process basic employee changes (pay rates, tax updates, garnishments, deductions)Ā Ā
- Respond to employee questions regarding pay, taxes, deductions, direct deposit, and payroll timingĀ
- Audit payroll data and reconcile discrepancies prior to final processingĀ
- Analyze payroll results to identify trends, errors, or process improvement opportunitiesĀ
- Serve as backup for Corrigan OSB payroll processing as neededĀ Ā
- Deliver timely, professional, and confidential customer serviceĀ
- Support internal controls and payroll documentation standardsĀ
- Partner with HR, accounting, operations, and site leadership to ensure payroll accuracyĀ
- Assist with audits, projects, and continuous improvement initiativesĀ
- Assist in the development and documentation of payroll procedures to ensure consistency and continuity within the departmentĀ
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of payroll systems and related toolsĀ
- Support other locationsā payroll team with problem resolution and provide guidance on payroll best practicesĀ
Job Experience:
RequiredĀ
- Experience with payroll systems or HRIS platforms; Workday strongly preferredĀ
- Associateās or BachelorāsĀ degree or 3+ years of payroll processing experienceĀ
- Strong understanding of payroll laws, taxes, and wage/hour requirementsĀ
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skillsĀ
- Strong analytical and reconciliation abilitiesĀ
- Must maintain availability aligned with bi-weekly payroll cycles, including timely completion of all required weekly payroll reporting and related deadlinesĀ
PreferredĀ
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designationĀ
- Experience supporting plant or hourly workforce payroll environmentsĀ
- Experience with timekeeping system integrationsĀ
