Summary This role is ideal for an early- to mid-career sales professional with a background in organic chemistry, life sciences, or scientific products who wants to develop and grow a Northern California territory. You will identify new customers, manage the complete sales process, and build relationships with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic, and research organizations. The strongest candidate combines hands-on sales experience with an understanding of organic chemistry. However, experienced life-science sales professionals without a chemistry background and motivated organic chemistry graduates interested in transitioning into sales will also be considered. What You’ll Do - Identify and develop new business opportunities across Northern California.
- Prospect pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic, CRO, and scientific research customers.
- Research potential accounts, generate qualified leads, and maintain an active sales pipeline.
- Manage the sales process from initial outreach through quotation, negotiation, closing, and order fulfillment.
- Prepare pricing, quotations, proposals, and product information based on customer requirements.
- Develop long-term relationships with existing customers while identifying opportunities to expand business.
- Discuss chemical products, research requirements, and technical applications with scientists and purchasing teams.
- Collaborate with Customer Service, Marketing, R&D, and internal technical teams to resolve customer needs.
- Attend customer meetings, scientific conferences, trade shows, and industry events.
- Maintain accurate account, opportunity, and activity information within the CRM.
- Monitor market activity, customer needs, competitive trends, and emerging opportunities.
- Consistently work toward individual revenue goals and broader team sales objectives.
Experience You’ll Need - Bachelor’s degree in Organic Chemistry, Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline strongly preferred.
- Sales, business development, account management, or customer-facing commercial experience preferred.
- Experience selling products or services within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life-science, laboratory, or chemical markets is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of organic chemistry is highly desirable.
- Ability to communicate scientific and technical information clearly to researchers and business stakeholders.
- Strong prospecting, relationship-building, negotiation, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to independently manage a Northern California sales territory.
- Strong organizational and CRM skills.
- Must currently reside in Northern California.
