About the Position

We’re seeking an experienced and successful Sr. CAD Designer/Drafter (Transportation Infrastructure) to join our team! In this role you will get to work with a team of engineers and other drafters using MicroStation to create engineering drawings supporting transportation infrastructure projects in the following counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma, CA.

Your primary focus will be on preparing roadway and traffic plans, including title sheets, key maps, line indexes, typical cross sections, roadway layouts, and construction details. You will also be responsible for creating profiles and superelevation sheets, contour grading plans, and summary of quantities to support accurate project reporting.

This is a temporary (~8 weeks), full-time, onsite position located in Oakland, CA.

Responsibilities

Creating profiles and superelevation sheets, contour grading plans, and summary of quantities to support accurate project reporting.
Drafting traffic plans such as signing and pavement delineation, construction area signs, and traffic electrical plans
Coordinating with the utility team to develop draft utility relocation and new facility plans, ensuring alignment with existing infrastructure.
Assisting in preparing drainage plans to address stormwater management and hydraulic requirements.
Updating roadway, traffic, utility, and hydraulic plans based on stakeholder feedback and technical reviews.
Assisting in preparing contract bid documents and ensuring all plans are validated and ready for final submission.
Supporting the development of as-built plans and providing input on change orders as needed.
Quality checking work in adherence to CAD standards and engineering markups.

Minimum Qualifications

AAS degree in computer aided drafting or similar field.
5+ years’ work experience supporting transportation infrastructure, inclusive of road and highway projects.
Proficiency in Caltrans CADD standards.
Strong proficiency with MicroStation 2023, Connect, and V8i.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365/Suite (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.

Compensation Details

Expected Salary: $61k-$125k/yr ($29-$60/hr.) Luster provides the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might offer for this position based on the successful candidate’s level of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, certifications, licenses, geographic location, etc. Luster reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range depending on circumstances not related to any status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
