What You’ll Do
As a Direct Support Professional, you’ll support individuals with developmental disabilities in achieving independence, dignity, and a higher quality of life. You’ll promote health, safety, community engagement, and personal growth.
Essential Duties
- Follow and implement daily routines as outlined in the Individual Program Plan (IPP)
- Support residents’ goals by participating in IPP/ISP development
- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy home environment
- Assist with personal care: grooming, hygiene, bathroom assistance, dressing, and changing as needed
- Prepare meals and assist with cleanup
- Encourage socialization, community activities, and family visits
- Transport clients safely using company vehicles (as needed)
- Document incidents and communicate daily with administrators
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year experience working in a residential facility with IDD clients
- At least 1 year of professional or personal caregiving experience
- Valid California Driver’s License
- Ability to pass all pre-employment screenings (background check, physical, etc.)
Preferred (or willing to obtain):
- DSP Year 1 & Year 2 Certifications
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) within 6 months
- CPR/First Aid within 30 days
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or mental illness
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
- Able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
