We are currently seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to join our Oakton/Vienna. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. Whether you are exploring nursing, medicine, physician assistant studies, or another healthcare profession, this position provides valuable hands-on experience while working alongside experienced pediatric providers and clinical staff.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30AM-12:30PM, Sunday 8:30AM-12:45PM

New Hire Orientation

All new employees are required to attend New Hire Orientation, which takes place during the first week of employment on Monday & Tuesday | 9:00 AM-4:00 PM. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and families while creating a positive, caring experience.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, obtain patient histories, measure vital signs, and accurately document information within the electronic medical record.
  • Assist with patient check-in and check-out, including scheduling appointments and verifying demographic and insurance information as needed.
  • Prepare, clean, stock, and maintain examination rooms and clinical equipment while following infection prevention and sterilization procedures.
  • Maintain patient records and protected health information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, families, providers, and coworkers.
  • Support daily practice operations through administrative projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. At this time we are not accepting high school students.
  • Enrollment in a healthcare-related degree program is strongly preferred.
  • Previous patient experience/customer service experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to meet Capital Area Pediatrics' immunization and health screening requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA guidelines is preferred.
