About the Role:

Job Summary

Performs ultrasound procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply ultrasound for sonographic diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas of procedures required.  
 

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Licensure or other certifications: Must be ARDMS registered in Physics. Current BLS certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire. 

  • Educational Requirements: High school diploma or GED. Graduate of accredited ARDMS Program.

Job Specific and Unique Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to perform quality sonographic procedures.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively with others.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Operate all sonographic equipment according to equipment specifications. 

  • Produce quality sonograms consistently within department standards.

  • Follow good radiation safety practices when applicable (i.e., shielding, film badge monitoring) according to state and federal guidelines.

  • Maintain patient records according the department standards.  

  • Exhibits team participation.

  • Properly assess patient according to exam ordered with appropriate documentation (i.e. check order, review previous films, check lab values when indicated, prep, screen for possible pregnancy, appropriate history, involve nurse when indicated, compliance with OB/GYN specific guidelines).

  • Provide patient education pertinent to exam being performed and document in patient record.

  • Compliance in accurately and completely utilizing RIS according to department standards (i.e., order, arrive, start, complete, cancel, record complications, fluoro time, drug history, repeats, complaints and transfers), and CPAC procedures when indicated.

  • Performs other duties as assigned, including: non-technical duties as assigned i.e., stock rooms, training of new staff, special projects and other duties.
