CI Engineer Intern - Summer 2027
Program Duration: End of May - Early August
Location: Pella, IA (On-site)

Pella Corporation is seeking motivated engineering students for our Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineering Internship in Pella, Iowa.

This internship provides hands-on experience supporting operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives across the business. Interns work alongside experienced engineers, operations leaders, and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, solve problems, improve processes, and support business objectives related to quality, cost, delivery, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

As a Continuous Improvement Engineering Intern, you will support projects and initiatives focused on process improvement, problem solving, and operational performance. Interns are given meaningful project work and collaborate with experienced professionals to develop technical, professional, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities are similar to what we expect of entry-level engineers who join Pella after graduation.

As a Continuous Improvement Engineering Intern, you may:

  • Support projects focused on improving quality, cost, delivery, safety, and operational efficiency
  • Analyze processes and identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve performance
  • Apply engineering principles, problem-solving methodologies, and continuous improvement tools to business challenges
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to support decision-making and project recommendations
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, operations, quality, and other cross-functional teams
  • Assist with the implementation and sustainment of process improvements
  • Present project updates, recommendations, and results to team members and business leaders
  • Develop technical, professional, and leadership competencies through project ownership and mentorship

All projects and assignments are determined based on business needs and team priorities.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline
  • Strong academic standing
  • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, or involvement through campus organizations, work experience, athletics, volunteer activities, or other experiences
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to learn new technologies, systems, and engineering tools
  • Experience leading projects, initiatives, or team efforts from planning through execution preferred
  • Previous internship or co-op experience preferred
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

 

Additional Information

  • Minimum 10-week, full-time internship assignment
  • Assigned manager and mentor support throughout the internship
  • Minimal travel may be required
  • No supervisory responsibilities
  • Periodic exposure to manufacturing equipment and production environments
  • Occasional lifting of materials up to 30 pounds may be required
  • Work environments may include office and manufacturing settings

 

Compensation: The starting pay rate for this position is $27.90 per hour. Compensation for this role is established through Pella Corporation’s internship program. Eligible participants may receive transition assistance in accordance with company policies and program guidelines.
