As we continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations.

Position Summary

The Controller will oversee all accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls for ABCO Transportation. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing strategic financial insights to support company growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and General Ledger
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Oversee cash flow management and forecasting
  • Develop and monitor annual budgets and financial projections
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and transportation industry financial standards
  • Supervise and support accounting staff
  • Coordinate with external CPA firms, auditors, and financial institutions
  • Implement and maintain strong internal financial controls
  • Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to executive leadership
  • Monitor operational costs including fuel, maintenance, driver pay, and equipment financing
  • Assist with capital planning and asset management for trucks and trailers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • 5+ years of accounting experience with 3+ years in a leadership role
  • Experience in transportation, logistics, or trucking industry strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Excel
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
