Hilton Ocala is one of four Meyer Jabara properties in Florida. Our beautiful 196-room hotel features six spacious event rooms and a tented outdoor event space, making us a premier destination for weddings, meetings, and special events.

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Engineer Class 2 to join our team. This hands-on position plays a critical role in ensuring our hotel remains safe, functional, and attractive for our guests and associates.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Engineer Class 2 contributes to the Guest Satisfaction Policy of the hotel by ensuring that guest rooms, public areas, and hotel facilities remain in excellent working order through a strong preventive maintenance program. This position is responsible for performing repairs and maintenance related to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general building upkeep.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including televisions, lighting fixtures, switches, and outlets. 
  • Maintain HVAC units to ensure they are clean, operating efficiently, and providing guest comfort. 
  • Troubleshoot and repair general plumbing systems, including toilets, sinks, faucets, and bathtubs. 
  • Perform drywall patching, painting, carpentry, and other general maintenance repairs. 
  • Repair and maintain room locking mechanisms, AC vents, and other guest room components. 
  • Assess materials needed to complete assigned projects and repairs. 
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and hotel departments. 
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintenance standards. 
  • Assist with preventive maintenance initiatives throughout the property. 
  • Perform incidental duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of hand tools and carpentry tools. 
  • Ability to repair basic electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Experience with drywall repairs, painting, room locking mechanisms, HVAC vents, and general maintenance work.
  • Ability to accurately determine materials and supplies necessary for assigned work. 
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with other maintenance associates, hotel departments, and guests.
  • Must maintain a flexible work schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed. 
  • Fluent in English, including speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Hospitality maintenance experience preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed throughout the hotel, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, climbing, reaching, and handling tools and equipment. 
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 pounds; occasional heavier lifting may be required.
  • Regular use of chemicals, ladders, painting equipment, electrical tools, plumbing tools, and carpentry equipment. 
  • Ability to work safely in various hotel environments and maintenance conditions.
